Many people like to complain about their in-laws. Maybe they show up unannounced to your house, or maybe they over stay their welcome while reminding you of all the things you're doing wrong with your children, and in your life. These are all minor complaints, but some people have genuine gripes, and can truly say their in-laws are crazy.
Looking to get some advice, a woman took to Reddit to discuss her most recent pregnancy. She's only 20-years-old, and her husband is 22, and the two just had their first child.
Obviously, the young couple were elated to welcome a young one into the world, but the father's parents were less-than-pleased because the mother gave birth to a baby girl. Her in-laws were adamant that she needed to have a son to carry on the family name.
This put a mild damper on the first few weeks, but overall, the parents couldn't be more excited. Unfortunately, they got some recent news that is making them stressed. Although they had been using forms of birth control, and had been very careful, the mother became pregnant again only 18 weeks after giving birth to her first child.
The 20-year-old was astonished to learn she was having another baby so soon - even while using birth control - but it was when she told her sister-in-law the news that the awful truth came out.
In her post, she describes the scene when she told her sister-in-law, "She bursts into tears and starts to apologize over and over, meanwhile I sit there with my mouth hanging open and lost." The young mother was lost, but suddenly everything started to make sense.
"She calms down a bit, and through her tears tell me that my mother-in-law has been poking holes in our condoms," the woman wrote. Apparently, the mother-in-law was over at the house claiming to be there to help with the newborn, but was hatching a plan for the woman to get pregnant again, just so she could have a boy.
"That’s why she’d always shoo me off to sleep while she was around," the pregnant woman wrote, "And that’s what she was doing when she was 'cleaning' my house."
She admits that she's obviously upset with the mother-in-law, but is also furious with the sister-in-law for not warning her. Although she admits she's "pleased with the pregnancy," but livid with what her mother-in-law did. "It wasn’t even an accident," the 20-year-old says "it was her meddling because she didn’t get the Golden Grandson she wanted."
Now the young woman is wondering if she should cut off all contact with the in-laws because she can't trust them. Plus, some folks are suggesting she might be able to press charges.
"If it were me, she would never see me or my kids again," one person commented, adding, "Going no contact is the only punishment worthy of this." While another suggested, "If you end up having a son give him your surname."
Would you stop talking to family members if they did this?
Should you always forgive family no matter what?
